OVERVIEW:

Big software companies once were content with multi-million to multi-billion-dollar valuations; they sold their products for a one-time price, with free updates and upgrades to the latest version for a minimal fee.   

Times have changed, and they all want to belong to the trillion-dollar club, so they want you to pay a monthly/yearly subscription to subsidize their data centers (the cloud!, the cloud!).  

On a personal note, I have been patronizing Adobe products since John Warnock and a coworker-friend left their jobs at Xerox PARC (yes, the same research center in Palo Alto, California, where the late Steve Jobs and his cohorts got the idea for the original Macintosh released in 1984) to commercialize PostScript and launch the desktop publishing boom in the 80s.   

I still use older Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator (CS), and Adobe Acrobat (XI), since the serial keys are valid for life and they still work well for my needs. 

This older Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard software for Windows-based PCs still lets you create, view, print, annotate, and collate electronic documents.  This is an ideal complement for the Adobe Acrobat™ Reader user.

NOTES/DISCLOSURES: The item was part of a hardware/software package purchased in 2009 but was never installed, and it comes with a legitimate, lifetime serial key (and, of course, as long as the software still works with the OS).  As such, I will include an 8GB USB 2.0 thumb drive, as we had long since recycled the original PC that came with the software.  But, hey, no more subscription fees!
