Description
This is one of the early yet fantastic SoundBlaster Live! audio cards from Creative Technologies of Singapore, released in 1998, for older PCs with a PCI (2.1 compliant) bus slot.
It sounds better than some of today’s motherboards with built-in sound chips (mostly from Realtek).
The unit has connectors for a PC speaker, CD-ROM drive, TAD (Telephone Answering Device), AUX in, SPDIF (CD In), and external SPDIF.
It also comes with standard jacks at the rear port:
- Line out 1 – for powered speakers, external amp, and also supports headphones
- Line out 2/Rear Out – for powered speakers and external amp. In analog mode, used for 4.1 channel speaker systems
- Line in – connects to external devices like cassette, DAT, or MiniDisc player for playback or recording
- Microphone IN – for an external microphone for voice input
- Joystick/MIDI connector (16-pin)
